‘The Gift’
7 day transformational healing retreat
Our Vision
‘Vasudhalaya’ birthed from the consistent churning, contemplation and meditation of ideas, thoughts, and feelings is a beautiful blend of two terms ‘Vasudha’ – Sanskrit means ‘producer of wealth and nectar’ which refers to Mother Earth and ‘Aalaya’ – Hindi means ‘abode or home’ or ‘sacrosanct’ place to live. It is understood that every place and part of Mother Earth is no different or separate from mankind, therefore, needs to be taken care of with the utmost sincerity and reverence. This sense of ‘protection of the planet’ is the motto of Vasudhalaya.
Welcome to Vasudhalaya
Our healing education center hosts activities and Yog- Sadhna (Yoga-Meditation) retreats that provide opportunities for social interactions, life skills-development, cultural and self awareness. Vasudhalaya invites any individual who resonates with our vision to join us in supporting, nourishing and developing a community valuing life experiences, stories, pains, traumas, riches, strengths, potentials, and energies. Our aim is to reveal ones true purpose and potential by slowing down, resting, becoming tuned in to the natural environment. The perfect balance of elements create a space that increases high vibrational energy conducive for authentic expression and transformation.
Located 30 minutes drive from Rishikesh, north into the Himalayas. The undulating valleys, the majestic Ganga River and wildlife that surrounds are mother nature’s gift to experience during your time with us.
About Vasudhalaya
As Yajurveda reveals,”Yatha pinde tatha brahmande, yatha brahmande thata pinde” As is the individual, so is the universe, as is the universe so is the individual. More specifically, we are all Mother Earth and earth is a manifestation of us. Considering the current condition of our planet with all sorts of deficits and disorders, nature is evidently reflected in human souls. Sharing such a great bond of oneness and communion with our planet emboldens the realization that the earth is neither just our environment nor something outside of us, but that we are the earth and our consciousness is also the consciousness of the earth. What we are experiencing is not our environment, it is us. Vasudhalaya modestly attempts to cultivate the very ethos of universal oneness in every individual and seeker.
Vasudhalaya can be interpreted as the story of human creation, formation, reformation, and transformation through Vedic sciences mainly based on ‘Yog and Ayurveda practices’ as well as other traditional Vedic scriptures. The elementary ideas creating the foundation of this school will empower leaders who will nurture Mother Earth. The essence of ‘Vidya’ and kaushal (skills and education) are appropriately amalgamated in the practical application of this truth for a Divine life.
The extent of modern-day teaching and learning i.e. Shiksha [1] gets confined in attaining its true purpose by its very foundation which means ‘ideas or principles taught by an authority’. Our ambitious objective is to deliver morale-based education deeply entrenched with the essence of ‘Vidya’(विद्या) which refers to universally established knowledge gained intuitively that cannot be contradicted.
Our family and community’s combined vision for Vasudhalaya based on Guru-Shishya Parampara [2] – Sanatan Dharma is a long term legacy project for us. We aim to re-establish these teachings as the eternal foundation of human life, to nurture the spirit and unleash the potential within each one of us.
The purpose of Vasudhalaya is not merely intellectual knowledge but the acceptance of being, as Mother Earth itself, resulting in emancipation from life bondages. At Vasudhalaya we are devoted in one common thought towards creating sustainable practices that will bring forth insights and spiritual transformation in the discovery of our ‘true purpose on this earth’. It is with deep reverence to God that we celebrate the wisdom, values, and sense of living imparted by embracing the holistic disciplines of yoga, pranayam, dhyana, sanskars, sadhana ayurveda and naturopathy.
Begin the journey with us, embracing nature and empowering humanity by preserving our traditions and cultures, making the world a heaven on earth for all.
1. शिक्षा– which literally means to learn, to recite or “Instruction, Lesson, Study, Knowledge, Learning, Study of Skill, Training in an Art”. Forwarding the very essence of its root i.e. vid (विद्) meaning thereby ‘To Reason Upon, Finding, Attaining the True Understanding of.
2. The guru-shishya tradition – Parampara, denotes a succession of teachers and disciples. Each Parampara belongs to a specific Gurukul (school of thought) for teaching. It is the tradition of spiritual relationship between the Guru and his disciples. A conscious mentoring where teachings of Gurus are transmitted to his shishya. It was believed that this relationship is based on the genuineness of the guru and the respect, commitment, devotion and obedience of the student. It was considered the best way for subtle or advanced knowledge to be conveyed.
